Yeah, this guy's got a whole slew of backstory that I need to get straight....and I need to figure out how he deals with all of it.
I currently have a side character whose backstory got a little out of hand...however, now I have to put even more work into my main character's story so that they seem just as impressive.
He's a magical amplifier for a half-baked princess character who needs some serious development. And he starts out as a pet without any complex emotions and limited communication abilities.

I really just need to get his backstory all straightened out.
