Why do I paint?
Why do I draw?
Because I seek attention,
recognition.
I want to stand out,
to be remembered.
I want my art to be amazing,
I want to be amazing.
No,
I am only amazing because I am young.
because of my legacy.
No one looks at me without seeing a child,
or an heir to a throne.
What if I do not want the throne?
What if I want something else?
They do not consider that I will do anything else.
I want to be my own.
I want to be big,
someone who can stand on their own,
who has skill.
So I draw,
so I paint.
But no one sees me.
No one looks at me and says
'you're my hero'.
When they look at my art,
my paintings,
my drawings,
they nod and move on.
But if I stand next to my art,
then they see a child
and compliment my young age,
not the quality of my work.
Who sees me as an adult?
Who sees me as a success?
I don't,
because no one else will.
Why do I draw?
Why do I paint?
For what it's worth, I look at your art on its own merit. And I think you're doing just fine.
